F is for Photo

My tulips opened up today for the first time. I bought a bag of bulbs from the Breck’s catalogue and all of them appear to have bloomed.

With March finally here, you can just feel the longing in Minnesota for the temperature to get above forty, and stay there, so Spring flowers can start sprouting. We are supposed to get 1-2 inches of snow tomorrow, so I thought it best to add some color to Fridays are for Photos.

The clouds were coming in right as I was taking this photo and within a few minutes, it was a cloudy day. You can see how the blue coverage of the clouds is advancing over the snow covered Mississippi River. I just loved the colors.

I thought it would be nice to see a flower for once…longing for Spring!

During the summer months, it is pretty difficult to see the rear of the mansions on Summit Avenue in Saint Paul due to all the trees and leaves. But in the winter, if you walk behind the hospital off of Grand and Smith, you can get a really good view of what these homes look like. It makes them all that much bigger in real life.

We had a foggy morning on Thursday which left a light dusting of ice and snow on the trees…it made for some good picture taking.

All our lakes are in a deep freeze, covered in a thick layer of ice and snow. On some lakes, like Lake Minnetonka, you can even drive your car on the ice…something I won’t be trying anytime soon.

This is by far one of my favorite photos I have taken in the winter. The little dusting of snow on the arm of this hand made chair is so simple and taking the photo in black and white makes the whole image pop. I haven’t edited the photo at all with more contrast so it is just like I took it.
