If you are looking for a place to view fall color around the state of Minnesota, a great place to check out is the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) website. They update what is happening around the state, and give a lot of information on how/what causes the leaves to change color. Typical peak color for the Twin Cities area is Late September to Mid October.

I was driving south of the river this week and came to an intersection where this farm is located. It is such a beautiful area with the rolling hills of corn, and the red barn in the background just made for a perfect photo. Why is it that there is just something about farmland that is just beautiful….do you have to be from the Midwest to appreciate something as simple as this?
One of my favorite wild flowers, Bergamot is a member of the mint family and blooms late summer. It is always a beautiful purple, all though perennial varieties from nurseries come in a vast array of colors and heights.
Some know the flower as Bee Balm. You might be surprised to learn that the oil from this mint has been used in folk medicine as a tea ingredient to treat respiratory and digestive disorders.
Orioles are one of my favorite birds that visit the feeder in the Spring. Getting them to stick around is another thing. This year my mother-in-law is having success with her Orioles by keeping grape jelly near the feeder…it disappears within hours.
Sometimes, even a rainy day can be beautiful…and a great time to walk out side with your camera and take some shots.
